The pro choice, pro abortion argument

Even people in support of abortion do not like to be called "pro abortion". Sometimes it mystifes me..it is as if using the word choice instead of abortion somehow changes what is happening.

Being pro choice sounds like a good thing, while pro abortion can mean only one thing.

For example, Barack calls himself pro choice, but he has voted against the Partial Birth abortion ban and also was against The Born Alive Victims Protection Act. I find it hard that anyone who has read Jill Stanek's account of babies who survive abortion being left to die http://www.godandscience.org/doctrine/stanek.html
would not be for supporting the Act. Even NARAL, an extreme pro abortion group supported it.

Calling yourself one thing over the other does nothing to change the end result of abortion...too many "choices" have died and too many women and men are suffering....

Crossing the Great Divide

This is something I wrote before the last presidential election ...I guess it still holds true...

Crossing the Great Divide

Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, 42 million abortions have been performed in our country. It is an issue that causes tremendous controversy in our nation, and one both sides of the debate are very passionate about.   It has become one of the decisive issues in our elections with both the pro life and pro-choice sides participating and organizing voter registration drives. However, the one voice most often missing is that of the women who have actually experienced abortion.

Often locked in the shameful silence of what has been presented as a liberating women’s right, these women have become prisoners of the shame, guilt and unresolved grief they feel in a society that refuses to acknowledge their pain.

We have been told over and over that abortion is a safe procedure, yet more and more women are beginning to come forward and speak out about the emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual damage “safe, legal” abortion has had on their lives.

Attempts have been made to make legitimate studies documenting abortions dangers seem unreliable, among the most notable, the abortion breast cancer link and the link to clinical depression to name just two. Studies documenting these findings can be found in the Detrimental Effects of Abortion, a 336-page bibliography with more than 1,200 entries to studies related to abortion complications and abortion decision- making.  Although numerous attempts have been made to get Women’s Right to Know legislation in place, organizations proclaiming to represent women such as NARAL, NOW and Planned Parenthood have been adamant in blocking their passage. Although they state abortion is a decision between a women and her doctor they continue to deny that same women full disclosure to abortions dangers.

The good news is more and more help is springing up across the nation due to the surge of those seeking help. Many professional therapists are now seeking training, in part because they have experienced the need through their own practices. Clergy member and lay peers are also reaching out to help and many ministries are now available.

If you or someone you know is suffering in silence call Lumina 1-877-Lumina1, a post abortion referral service here in the NY area. There is hope, there is healing.

For women or abortion?

"We are also at a crucial junction in the fight for Dr. Tiller's clinic in Wichita. Dr. Tiller has been locked in a legal battle with a grand jury that anti-abortion extremists groups petitioned to convene. The Kansas Supreme Court recently ruled to limit the power of the grand jury to engage in a fishing expedition, but did not quash the subpoena for the confidential medical records of some 2,000 of Dr. Tiller's patients.

We have launched a massive public outreach campaign to alert the country and to organize support for Dr. Tiller. His clinic is the last resort for women all over the country seeking late term abortions for fetal anomalies, for severe illness, and to protect their very lives. We will not allow Dr. Tiller's clinic to close as the result of a mean-spirited, anti-abortion attack."

Such is the plea from the "Feminist Majority Foundation" in an email I received today. It amazes me how they can say they  stand up for women while I personally know couples who suffered at the  hands of Tiller. They are not pro woman, they are pro abortion at any cost.

Not only has Tiller killed countless unborn children, he has also injured countless women and men by his actions. In an effort to try to make his sick practice "normal" he continues to "baptize" babies after he has killed them. None of the people I know aborted there because their lives were in danger, and yet he continues to defy the laws. The evil is undeniable.

While The Feminist Majority Foundation holds him up as some kind of a hero, I continue to pray for him to be shut down and also for a conversion of heart...may the light of the truth be shown and Tiller closed down forever.

KanKansas Gov Kathleen Sebelius Held Secret Event With Late-Term Abortionist

I wish I could say I am shocked at this report below from Life News, but unfortunately it only makes sense since to spite much evidence Tiller seems untouchable....hopefully something will be done now....

The Fallen

I went to the Memorial Day parade today in our town. I cannot help but mourn on this day as I personally know or are friends with the parents of six Marines who have given their lives for us. Everyday is tough for their families,

As I stood there honoring the fallen I could not help  but be reminded of the over 4,00 who fall each day in our country from abortion,... a different war...what makes it so horrible is that we, in different degrees, participated in their deaths.

As I pray for our brave young men who gave their lives for our freedoms, I also pray for an end to abortion and the loss all families feel for those members absent on earth.

Go Girl

Rebecca Porter is a friend who speaks out about abortions harm to women..here is an article from Lifenews about an Obama rally ahe attended

Tampa, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Four women who were injured emotionally and spiritually by their abortions and regret their decisions confronted supporters of Barack Obama at a rally this week in Florida. The members of the post-abortion group Operation Outcry stood on the sidewalk holding signs that read “My Abortion Hurt Me."

They were able to share their message of abortion's destructive effects with over 6,000 people attending the rally.

“I wanted the people to realize what their support of Obama means when you think about the damage abortion does to the thousands of women and men daily in our nation and the loss of our children," Rebecca Porter told LifeNews.com.

Porter, who heads the Florida efforts for the post-abortion organization, told LifeNews.com she was surprised by the number of Obama backers who were uninformed about the presidential candidate's pro-abortion position.

"What surprised me the most was that many people that spoke to us were pro-life and didn't have a clue about Barack Obama’s liberal voting record," she said.

Porter and her colleagues found men and women who both said their involvement in abortions caused them significant regret as well.

"We had several women and men comment that abortion had hurt them too and we were able to give them a Declaration form and share about abortion recovery ministries," she said.

The declarations have been used by more than 2,200 women and men who are part of the effort by the Justice Foundation, a Texas-based pro-life law firm that has been trying to overturn Roe v. Wade.

"Thousands saw us and many were surprised that we could be so bold as to make such a statement about our abortions," Porter told LifeNews.com. "We stood and looked people in the eye as we prayed for them and our nation. We saw so much pain and heartache and many looked away in shame.”

Contrition & Gratitude

God's goodness never fails to amaze me.

Filled with "contrition and gratitude" the theme of our weekend retreat, based  on the book "The Two Pillars" by SC Biela http://www.inthearmsofmary.org/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=41&HS=1 I am so amazingly filled with awe at the mercy of God.

It is easy in life, to get caught up in the little things. To feel hurt, or angry at some injustice we perceive, when in reality, each one of us falls short. We go through life on the pedestal o four illusions instead of the truth of God and our great need for Him.

This weekend was a huge grace for the women, but also for me, as I came to experience deeply how blessed I am to do this work and walk the way of calvary with the women and men we serve.Nothing else is really important, only knowing and doing God's will.

As the days go by and my "high" from the weekend wears off, I pray that my resolves stands firm by His grace, and I keep my eyes fixed on Him, not allowing anything to distract me from what He asks of me and pray that Our Blessed Mother  keeps me on a straight  path in to His merciful arms.

Thank you God for allowing me to do this work and for each and every soul you send us....

Prayers for China

The past few days have given us a look at the devastation in China from this weeks earthquake.
From the beginning, before I knew how bad it was, I heard a school was hit badly. The first thought that came into my mind was how the children in that school probably came from one child families.

China, of course, has had a policy of one child families and forced abortions (they say 400 million since 1979)and sterilizations for the past 30 years. I will never forget a book I read years ago by Steven MOsher "A Mother Ordeal". http://www.amazon.com/Mothers-Ordeal-Womans-Against-One-Child/dp/0151626626  It left such an impact on me..we truly do take much for granted here in the US although I do fear we are heading down the wrong road.
The only people with more than one child in China are the rich who can pay the government off. The poor people of China now not only have to deal with abortion and sterilizations they have experienced but  many of them now have to deal with the loss of their only child.

Please keep our world so enmeshed in abortion and especially the people of China  in your prayers

A Freewheelin Time

I got to read a little of the book "A Freewheelin Time" by Susan Rotolo, gf of Bob Dylan in the 60's.
Of course, I scooped out her writing on the abortion they had...I was disappointed but I guess I should not have been surprised at what she wrote.

Although she says she went back and forth with the decision, there is no doubt she did not want a child. She was young, their relationship was not going well, and "this was a complication we had not anticipated". She says was feeling confined and a child would have made her more so.

Abortion was illegal in those days but through an underground network they were able to find  a "good doctor who risked everything by secretly performing abortions in their offices or clinics".

She goes on to say she became depressed and wanted to sleep reality away. After that "the intensity of the bad created a weight that flattened the good we had together".

I do not doubt that her abortion had a major impact on her nor do I doubt it was a hard decision, but she seems to lament that it was illegal more than anything else and she is definitely in favor of abortion. She makes it seem like Dylan was not crazy about the idea, although I am sure in the midst of climbing to fame he went along. I wonder what his views are on abortion.

Hers was not an easy place to be and she seems to have been on her own from a early time in many crazy situations with parents who were communists. I felt sorry for her in reading the book knowing that somewhere in her head, like countless other women, the abortion is causing her pain.
