Using a new spin, this Newsweek article is giving publicity to a new campaign by the National Institute of Reproductive Health "how much time should she do?"

It centers on abortion being banned and women being criminals because of them....once again they try to discredit women who have suffered and come to regret their aboriton decision, siting "no reliable data".

A sexual assault suspect arrested after pro-life protesters gave police a photograph showing his vehicle at an abortion clinic where his victim reported getting an abortion has been found dead.

Authorities in Bryant, Ark., have confirmed to WND that Jeffrey Dean Cheshier, 41, was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound by deputies in Garland County who responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a private driveway.

Cheshier had been arrested after Angela Michael, who runs Small Victories with her husband and children, was able to document for police the fact that Cheshier's vehicle was at an abortion clinic in Granite City, Ill., at the time the victim reportedly claimed to have been taken there for an abortion.

Bryant, Ark., Det. Jimmy Long confirmed it was the photograph from Small Victories that helped secure a case against Cheshier.

An underage girl had accused him of rape, but she also reported he forced her to go to the "Hope" Clinic for Women abortion business in Granite City for an abortion, so there was no evidence.

The protesters' photograph provided an identifiable license plate number on the suspect's car at the abortion clinic when the victim claimed to have been there, police said.

The executive director of the abortion clinic, Sally Burgess, told KSDK television she knew nothing about this particular case but the business has safeguards in place to protect juveniles.

Authorities said Cheshier had been free on bond pending trial on the various charges against him.

According to reports, a witness heard a "pop like a bottle rocket" and a deputy found the body a short time later. Court officials confirmed Cheshier had been scheduled for trial starting the first week in September, and that the case had not yet been dismissed.

"This unfortunate crime of child rape is played out every day," Angela Michaels said in a prepared statement. "This one just got caught. Unfortunately, it ended tragically. One can only imagine the pain and guilt Cheshier felt after stealing this young girl's innocence that would force a man in the prime of his life to take the coward's way out of his problems."

She told WND the case was a tragedy for all involved.

"We knew this man had to face judgment, to go before a jury and a judge," she said. "We really had been hoping to reach this man, to save this man, to have this man repent of his crime."

The young girl, 13 when the assaults apparently started and now 15, now will have to deal with the trauma of being attacked without an assailant to confront, she said.

And she said equally important are the other victims.

"I think the world needs to take note of this. How many more victims are out there?" she asked. "And why is the abortion industry allowed to cover up these attacks."

The Michaels, for their Christian ministry, have spent more than 14 years outside the Granite City abortion business protesting and taking photographs of abortionists, clinic employees and customers.

The victim had reported to police that Cheshier had been assaulting her over a period of time when officers arrived at the home for a call regarding a domestic disturbance.

Angela Michael said the Granite City clinic is known nationwide because of the circumstances. Its abortionists do late-term abortions and the state of Illinois has no parental notification law.

The ministry parks its ultrasound van on the public street in front of the abortion business and encourages girls to miss their abortion appointments. Angela Michael said she's seen "an abundance" of cases where an older man obviously is forcing an underage girl into the clinic.

Former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline also unsuccessfully battled for charges to be developed in many cases apparently involving underage victims.

Kline had cited the 2003 Kansas state statistic that there were 78 abortions on girls under the age of 15. In a state where the legal age of consent is 16, how could 78 girls become pregnant and obtain abortions without a single report of sexual assault, or rape, on a child, he wondered.

He later lost his bid for re-election to an opponent who has expressed support for the abortion industry.

House Subcommittee Passes Bill

3 million dollars has been approved for the "NIH to pursue a study into the mental health consequences of pregnancies ending in miscarriage or abortion". Hopefully, someone objective will do the study and not pawns of the pro abortion movement..this could be a big step for those suffering..it is about time this get acknowledged...let's see...

A Response to Spitzer Legislation

here is a response I wrote to the Gotham Gazette regarding the article about Spitzers legislation..let's see if they print it. (sorry for the way it shows..I am having blogging problems....)

Let the whole Truth be Told

New YorkI am not a NYS judge as Emily Jane Goodman is, the author of the article “Guaranteeing Access to Abortions in New York, but as someone who has worked with hundreds of post abortive women suffering abortions aftermath, and having had my own personal experience, I am more than qualified to address the issue of abortion.

 Like in most articles of this nature,  anyone who is not in agreement with unrestricted abortion-on-demand is referred to as an “antiabortion advocate”, when in fact, it is those who have experienced abortion themselves who are bringing this issue to the forefront.

 As much as the pro abortion lobby would have you believe there are no adverse effects to abortion, the truth is becoming evident as more and more women are speaking out about the negative impact it has had on their lives, psychologically, emotionally and many times physically.

 Over and over again we hear about women having been burdened with “unwanted pregnancies” but the issue of coercion by husband’s, boyfriends or parents for women who want to have their babies is never mentioned, nor does the pro abortion side ever voice outrage about this..

 Repeatedly, we hear of the coat hanger abortions, and Emily Goodman’s article even addresses perforated uteruses of years ago, yet she fails to mention the countless women who have been left sterile or even dead from supposedly “safe” legal abortion, like in the case of 21-year-old Edrica Goode who became the third woman in four years to die after an abortion at a California clinic. No outrage…a deafening silence.

 How about the husbands and boyfriends killing their pregnant partners, which we have seen all too many of lately? No outrage…just a deafening silence.

Judge Goodman bemoans the fact that in

New York State today, an abortion is defined as homicide when it is performed after 24 weeks unless the woman’s life is at risk. Is this supposed to be a bad thing, that the law offers at least some protection to viable unborn children, or are we to believe Ms Goodman advocates abortion at any time, in any way, at any cost? What is next…maybe after birth there will be unwanted children. What then, Ms Goodman?

 Judge Goodman and Governor Spitzer want us to believe this legislation, “The Reproductive Health and Privacy Act” is good for women, yet legislation to provide women with all the facts and dangers about abortion continues to be denied. It just does not add up. Are they truly for women, or just for abortion?

 Judge Goodman ends her article stating “let he wars begin”, I say “let the whole truth be told”. Women deserve it.

Spitzer's NY ACT

This article was passed on to me by Kathleen Gallagher of the NYS Catholic Conference. Not surprisingly it mentions "anti aboriton advocates" while never referring to the women themselves who have experienced abortion being a source of information. It is too bad no concern is shown for those women coerced into abortion who wanted their unborn child, nor does it address abortions adverse impact on womens lives. The article ends  with "let the wars begin". I say "let the truth be told"

WHAT THE CHANGE WOULD DO

The Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act, proposed by Governor Eliot Spitzer, would establish and recognize reproductive rights and privacy. The bill would guarantee the right to abortion; it would also guarantee rights with respect to contraception including, for example, the purchase of birth control or "morning after" pills. It would amend the public health law, the education law, the penal law and criminal procedure law, and certain other statutes, all in relation to abortion. Specifically the bill contains a statement of a woman’s right to terminate a pregnancy before the fetus is medically determined to be viable or at any time necessary to preserve the woman’s life or health. According to lawyers who have assisted the Spitzer’s office in drafting the legislation, perhaps most significantly, it would recognize that the issue of abortion is medical, rather than legal or political.

Currently, New York does not have any provision for abortion after viability to protect a woman’s health. Also, the procedure remains criminal after 24 weeks even if the fetus is not viable -- "even if the fetus is dead," according to Dr. Maureen Paul, chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood of New York City. The law bans all abortion after 24 weeks except when necessary to preserve a woman’s life, although Paul says, "A threat to health is a threat to life."

Under the proposed changes, these statutes would be repealed and the bill would allow a woman to end a pregnancy until viability or at any time necessary to protect her life or health.

ADDRESSING FEDERAL CHANGES

New York’s existing law was never challenged, but until this year federal court decisions had determined that laws restricting abortion after 24 weeks are unenforceable when the procedure is needed to protect a woman’s health. Then earlier this year in their second Gonzales v Carhart ruling on late-term abortions, the Supreme Court decided that the "state’s interest in promoting respect for human life in all stages of pregnancy could outweigh a woman’s interest in protecting her own health." That decision means that New York laws would no longer be adequate to insure that women who needed them would be able to obtain abortions in later stages of pregnancy.

By addressing that issue directly, advocates say, New York would make a major commitment to protecting the rights intended by a majority of the sitting justices’ predecessors three and a half decades ago. If the current state bill is enacted into law, it will reflect the public policy of New York by declaring that every individual has a fundamental right of privacy with respect to personal reproductive decisions and the right to refuse or choose contraception. It would make clear that in New York State every female can determine the right to bear a child and terminate a pregnancy prior to viability, or whenever it is necessary to protect her life or health.

In the wake of recent court rulings, and anticipating decisions in the future, abortion rights advocates are increasingly turning their attention to the state level. In this state, the proposed legislation "will ensure that New York remains a beacon for choice in the face of broad federal attacks on reproductive health and women’s rights," said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, which participated in the drafting of the bill. "The Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act would be just that. It would make reproductive rights a matter of health, not law and politics," she said.

Unless the state legislature returns for a special session later this year, the bill is unlikely to win passage in 2007. But supporters say they will press for the legislation. NARAL Pro-Choice New York, for example, has said it will target key state senators who have opposed the bill “until the bill is passed.

For their part, antiabortion advocates are working to defeat the measure. In a “memorandum of opposition,” the New York State Catholic Conference listed objections to specific provisions of the bill, including its guarantee of privacy rights and its removal of New York abortion laws from the criminal code. Calling the bill “uncompromising in its terms and extremely sweeping in scope,” the statement said the measure “goes against the increasingly pro-life sentiment in this country.”
