So today is the 5th annual "International Day for Sharing" and I received this email from Exhale, the pro abortion/post abortion group:
Dear Friends,
Today is the day to acknowledge all people who share personal life stories, especially those who tell stories about hidden or neglected experiences, like having had an abortion. It is the 5th annual “International Day for Sharing Life Stories!”
Our pro-voice community understands the risks and opportunities that come with speaking publicly about having had an abortion. We believe that every woman needs to maintain the rights to her own story, including how it’s collected, crafted and circulated; and we want every voice to be heard. That’s why we’re commemorating this special day with partners who share our commitment to supporting and respecting every person who chooses to talk publicly about an abortion experience.
Exhale, joins with Project Voice and the Silence Speaks initiative of the Center for Digital Storytelling, to commemorate “International Day for Sharing Life Stories” and promote supportive, respectful storysharing that encourages individual and community wellbeing and facilitates social transformation. Together with our partners, we offer ideas, tips and tools so that every person can have healing, empowered, and influential abortion storysharing experiences.
We invite you to:
- Tell your personal story on Project Voice, an online community that makes room for every voice to be heard with dignity and respect.
- Read Ethical Abortion Storysharing: Towards Supportive and Respectful Practice by Exhale Special Advisor and Silence Speaks founder, Amy Hill
- Share Exhale’s ethical storysharing guides for women who have abortions and advocates with your communities and networks.
In honor of “International Day for Sharing Life Stories,” we invite you to join the pro-voice community, Exhale, Project Voice and Silence Speaks and make a personal commitment to support and respect every person who chooses to talk publicly about an abortion experience.
It is interesting to read many of the stories posted in Project Voice http://projectvoice.org/
They are all pretty sad even when they say there is no regret. Sadly, as hard as they are working to abolish what they believe to be shame and guilt because of the outside world, these testimonies only go to show how harmful abortion is to all women.
Sincerely,
Aspen Baker Founder and Executive Director, Exhale |
