We have heard it a million times. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has said it, Nancy Pelosi has said it, Vice President Joe Biden has said it, and even President Obama has repeatedly stated that abortion is between a woman and her doctor.
We read it in articles proclaiming to protect women’s “health.” Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and many other pro choice groups are quick to proclaim it. The media too is quick to portray abortion as a decision made by a woman and her doctor, but is it true?
In the past year the quest for expansion by pro abortion groups and their political allies has seen bills introduced that would allow for non physicians to perform abortions. Most notably, Governor Cuomo’s “Women’s Equality Act” which, although it included many wonderful things such as ending violence against women and ensuring equal pay for women, it was defeated by just one vote in the state of New York because it was held captive by an extreme pro abortion agenda.
Although they are quick to deny it, anyone reading this bill would have to admit it would have allowed non physicians to perform abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. How is that in the health interest of women?
Yes, all nine months. This leads us to another false portrayal of abortion. These people who claim abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare” and that the fetus is just a clump of cells, has now moved to abortion at any time, for any reason, with no exceptions.
We recently saw pro abortion extremists fighting to deny the passage of a bill that would make abortion illegal in the state of Texas after twenty weeks, a time where it has been proven the unborn baby feels pain. President Obama has also promised to veto any bill that would limit the time abortions can occur.
For over forty years we have been hearing how abortion is a women’s health issue. After over 54 million abortions, women and America are finally waking up to the lies about abortion.
These same people, who profess to care deeply for women, do absolutely nothing to protect them. In fact, they constantly fight against any legislation that would ensure their mental and physical safety.
It is no secret that women still die from supposed “safe, legal, abortion.” While the pro abortion lobby is quick to try to blame it on other things, one look at a clinic like Gosnell’s or the record of abortionists like Steven Bringham, James Pendergraft, or recently in MD, Iris Dominy, Michael Basco, and Mansour Panah where all three lost their license to practice medicine shows that abortion, in many cases, is anything but safe.
Clinics continue to be unregulated and unmonitored in spite of incidents like the House of Horrors of Kermit Gosnell. How is this good for women’s health?
Yes, we women who have had abortions and have found healing are getting the truth out there in spite of the reluctance of the media to give us a voice. Groups like Operation Outcry and The Silent No More Campaign have brought our voices to the streets and to the floors of the legislatures. The truth of abortion has a voice and it is ours.
They say they do not want politics in abortion and yet much legislation comes from political paybacks having nothing to do with women’s health. Abortion has hurt millions of women. Some speak out, but many live in silence and shame thinking they are crazy and alone in their feelings. They are learning this is not true. It is time we took an honest look at what our country has allowed to happen and to truly care for the health and safety of women and their unborn children. It is time to stop the madness before their desire for abortion at any time, in any way, and for any reason, by anyone becomes the reality.
