“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:2
In this day and age we are often left feeling that it is hard to find any kind of peace. Threats of terrorism, political division, the demise of family values, poverty, violence and for those post abortive, bouts of shame, anxiety, guilt and grief make the concept of peace seem unattainable. At times it is even difficult not to despair. The answer however, comes in not focusing on those things, but on keeping our eyes on Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
With the Christmas season upon us, let us always remember our peace is not of this world. It is not fleeting depending on what events are happening in the world, but it is grounded in the One who was, is, and always will be. The One who came that we may have peace, not just any peace, but His peace.
"Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful." (John 14:27)
May you always gaze on Jesus and may the peace of Christ permeate your heart this Christmas season and always.
