Last night I Participated on a panel at Iona College in New Rochelle.
Thanks to Rachel Spears who is working hard, along with other students, to bring an awareness to the campus of the truth of abortion and offer resources for those who may find themselves pregnant or suffering from a past abortion!
Sarah Keating from New Rochelle Pregnancy Care Center, Elinor Martin Residence and GM Spear , artist of the 'Regret" series, along with the campus Ministry Director Jeanne McDermott, were also on the panel.
It gives me great joy to see these young people not only working to save lives but wanting an understanding of post abortion issues as well so that they can reach out to those who are hurting.
The "Regret" series are paintings of the grief and pain of women who have had abortions. One of their objectives is to "showcase the true stories of women who have had abortions and regret them." Each painting has a testimony of the woman on the back of it stating why she chose abortion and its consequences.
The artist definitely captures the emotions. They are pretty intense pictures and powerful tools in relaying the pain of abortion to those who think there are no consequences and deny post abortion trauma. Here is one of them.
Anyone who has had an abortion can certainly relate to the pain shown in this portrait, but it does not have to be the end of the story.
I like to think that we at Lumina and Entering Canaan and many other post abortion ministries change those faces to one of peace and joy as they receive healing. I have been very blessed to see that happen countless times.
God does not want us to stay in this pain and grief but longs to heal our wounds and bring us His joy...
He will never let us down!
