"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God."
Thessalonians 5:18
It is so easy for us to thank God for what we see as the good in our lives, what makes us happy or joyful. However, it is difficult to give Him thanks for the times we are feeling pain, especially in regard to our healing.
“In everything” give thanks! The good, the bad, the joyful, the sorrowful, in happiness, and when we are in pain, because we have a God who loves us.
We may not understand how He is moving in our lives when we are suffering, but if we trust in Him and try to do His will each day, we are healing in spite of what we are feeling.
Take time today to think of four things you have to be thankful for, two you consider to be “good," and two you consider to be “bad," and pray about how God may be using all of those things to bring you closer to His Merciful heart.
Here are mine:
1. I am grateful for loving family and friends and for the incredible Mercy of God.
2. I am grateful to be able to do this work full time and to meet the countless, wonderful souls I come in contact with.
3. I am grateful we, as a ministry, are small and hidden and for the chance to always grow in trust that He will provide for the work we are doing.
4. I am grateful for the suffering. Although I do not always "feel" grateful, I know He is using it for good, so I am especially grateful He allows me to share in His life.
What are your four things?
