My favorite thing to do on Good Friday is the Procession of the Stations of the Cross through the streets of New York City from Harlem to the South Bronx with the Fransiscan Friars of the Renewal followed by the Good Friday Liturgy at 3:00 PM.
There are so many things that are truly wonderful about it, it is difficult to put it into just a few words, from each friar taking turns carrying the cross, to the prayers and reactions of people in the neighborhoods, but mostly it's the entering into the Passion of Jesus on this Holiest of days.
You too can be a part of their Good Friday procession...
Every Good Friday, the friars host a Way of the Cross Witness Walk through the streets of Harlem and the South Bronx. The walk starts at 12 noon at Saint Joseph's Friary, 523 West 142nd Street, NYC (arrive no earlier than 11:30 am). The walk ends by 2:30 pm at St. Crispin Friary, 420 E. 156th Street, Bronx, NY. There will be a 3pm Good Friday service at St. Crispin Friary.
