“Mary took a liter of costly perfumed oil
made from genuine aromatic nard
and anointed the feet of Jesus and dried them with her hair;
the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.”
Mary has experienced the Mercy of God in a profound way that is manifested throughout the rest of her life as she accompanies Him to the cross and beyond, keeping company with Mary His mother.
In the book , "Mary Magdalene - Prophetess of Eucharistic Love" by Father Sean Davidson, we are reminded that Mary Magdalene was always at the feet of Jesus. When He came to dinner at the house of Martha and Mary, and she sat at HIs feet listening to His words, when Mary washed His feet with her tears, and of course at the foot of the cross.
In this very beautiful book (that I encourage you all to read), we are also told the story of a priest, Blessed John Joseph Lataste, who was given the gift of being able to kiss the skull of St Mary Magdalene. At that time, we are told, he received an insight about both Mary Magdalene and the Blessed Mother who stood together at the foot of the cross. One he says was perfect innocence, the other, perfect repentance. He understood that the greatest sinners have the power to become the greatest saints. " Only innocence or profound penitence can stay faithful to the end."
May those of us who have experienced the incredible mercy of God from the sin of abortion learn perfect penitence as Mary Magdlene did, in order to bring many more souls to His mercy and accompany the two Mary’s to Calvary.
