Those who have had an abortion have all experienced them. The dread of going to a baby shower, the due date that reminds us of what could have been, the aversion of seeing pregnant women, the paralyzing pain of the thought of the baby we will never hold. No matter what your reason for aborting, or how you feel about abortion itself, the “connectors” that send us into a frenzy are always there even if we are not conscience of them.
Suffering because of a past abortion is not uncommon, but in this political climate it can be torturous. There is no place to get away from it, abortion is in the news every day whether it is the Presidential election or the nomination of a Supreme Court Justice.
Donna, a woman from the Entering Canaan ministry put it this way regarding her reactions to the constant media attention. “On the one hand, the constant battles for and against abortion stir up those shameful feelings and makes me forget how far I've come in my healing. On the other hand, it makes me want to strongly promote my pro-life stance, which I have done and will continue to do. It also stirs up my desire to witness publicly against abortion which, unfortunately, is not an option for me at this time and this makes me feel helpless to do more.”
Women like Donna are not uncommon. Many are living in situations where they feel unable to speak the truth publicly because of other children or people in their lives that may not know about their abortion. With it being such a volatile issue, many others are hesitant, fearing they will be attacked for their stance for life, in the all too often frenzy of our current society.
With the nomination of a new Supreme Court Justice, the 1973 decision of Roe vs Wade is a focal point, sending those who have experienced abortion on both sides of the issue, into feelings of desperation to either overturn Roe or to make it untouchable.
Even with outstanding qualifications, nominee Amy Coney Barrett is getting attacked by the left because she is both pro-life and Catholic, as if this automatically disqualifies her for the job. When did America become a place where religion would be a litmus test for those who actually live their faith yet acceptable for those who pick and choose what teaching they support like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi.
So much for women’s rights. Unless you support the god of abortion you have no rights.
What was sold to Americans as “legal, safe and rare” has become anything but, with abortion being available all nine months for any reason, and babies being born alive left to die alone.. What was presented as necessary for the safety of a woman in a dire situation, has become the birth control method for many and a means of not taking responsibility for personal actions. Sadly, the unborn pay the ultimate price but millions of women, men and siblings are now also finding out abortion is not all the left cracks it up to be and instead of the freedom it proposes to give, it often enslaves them with its consequences.
While there are “extremes” on both sides of the issue, most of America seems stuck in the middle. They know we have gone too far but they still want the premise of what they agreed with originally, “legal, safe and rare” because they still believe in the necessity of abortion in some circumstances.
I myself would be categorized in the “extreme” pro-life position. For me that is a compliment, not a negative. The fact that I saw my dead unborn son lying in a bed next to me calls for nothing less than extreme. An extreme I would not have known had I not seen him myself. He is the truth of what abortion is and does, yet the pro-abortion extremists hide this truth from us.
Do we really want this for our country? Do we truly believe we can continue this road without serious repercussions, some of which have already begun? Do we recognize the damage this is doing to our future generations of children classified as wanted or unwanted and feeling guilty that they are ones who were allowed to be born? Do we really comprehend the numbers of people suffering emotionally and physically because of abortion?
Our country has taken a turn that eventually will see no way back and lead to its own destruction. The very value of women and their survival seems to be based by the left on the accessibility of abortion, as if that is what defines us. The essence of being a man is being destroyed as gender reality diminishes, and made up identities are politically correct even if not true. We are made to feel like we are bigots if we state the physical fact that a man cannot have a baby. Sometimes I feel like Alice in Wonderland!
Wake up America. We are approaching the time where we cannot hide anymore, and no response is a response itself. What do you want America to be?
Yes, there is nowhere for those who have experienced abortion to escape the debate in this climate, but perhaps that is a good thing. This stirring of emotions is bringing more and more women locked in the silent suffering and secret of abortion forward for healing. As they heal they are becoming mighty witnesses to the truth not only for the unborn but for themselves. The truth that abortion kills the unborn and the essence of life for millions of women, men and siblings.
It is time we as a country took ownership of the fact that since the passage of Roe vs Wade over 60 million babies have died and millions of others have been harmed. That is very far from the “legal, safe and rare” that was sold to us 47 years ago.
