Was your abortion 2 years ago? 10? How about 30 or 40? No matter how long ago it happened, abortion leaves its mark. Here is a letter Fr Benedict Groeschel, CFR, passed on to me in 2003 from a woman over 90 years old. I will call her "Vera." I came across it while going through some papers.
We corresponded for a time, and then had to stop because she was very ill and was going to live with one of her children. Like many living siblings, they did not know about her abortions and Vera was terrified of them finding out so we stopped communicating. I am sure she has passed on by this time, but I think of her often, and I believe the Lord brought her to Himself. I also believe she would want me to share her letter, which took such courage to write at that age, in order to bring others to Christ.
It is never too late to call on the merciful Lord who desires our conversion. May Vera be in the arms of Our Lord with her 3 children, praising God for His Mercy!
Dear Father,
I didn't respond to this request sooner because I receive 50 plus requests each month and since I am in my 90's and on SS, I can't possibly reply to all. I just pick out one or two a month to send to, so the rest remain stacked on my table.'
I particularly want to respond to you because many many years ago, I had 3 abortions (I had 5 full term children). I can truthfully say I am intensely sorry for this awful sin and also I did not fully realize the full extent of these acts at the time. About 30 or more years ago, I confessed these but it has been so long I cannot remember him giving me absolution. I think he did and surely hope so. I know this sounds stupid but I was so stressed out and it was such a long time ago and my memory is poor.
I am praying a whole lot and hope Jesus forgives me. I am working on forgiving my husband (deceased) because he was an alcoholic and I feel as if I would not have had these abortions if he would have been helpful and given some more help and money. I had a baby at about 5 months die after so my total of children would have been 9.
Thank you for reading this Do you think there can be forgiveness? I am praying and hoping.
Praise God she did come to realize that there is forgiveness...please say a prayer for her . I pray she is saying one for all of us!
